“What are you looking at Jake?” she asks, rolling over on her side and brushing a stray hair out of her face.

He doesn’t reply for a minute so she thinks he didn’t hear her. She leans back, resting her head on the soft gras below.

“You make me happy.” he finally says.

She turns her head back to him, looking at his resting shape, her voice a quiet whisper.

“I didn’t know you were unhappy before.”

“I didn’t either.”

A pause. He still doesn’t move, his eyes a dark pool of wonders, secrets and love.

“You redefined happiness.”
